"There is a network of helping hands behind every genuine success."

In response to A.B. 3678, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) issued General Order 156 (GO-156) effective May 30, 1988. GO-156 established uniform rules and guidelines for governing the development of the utilities’ Women and Minority Business Enterprises (WMBE) Programs. In June 1992, the GO-156 was amended to include Service Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBEs) and also amended in June 2015 to include LGBT Business Enterprises into the WMBE Program which is known as the utility Supplier Diversity Program. Today, the Company's Supplier Diversity Program covers not only its California service area but also its Nevada and Arizona service areas.

Southwest Gas' Supplier Diversity Program has taken advantage of the phenomenal population growth in the Company's service areas to create business opportunities for Diverse Suppliers. These business opportunities support the program's theme "There is a network of helping hands behind every genuine success."

As a corporation serving a three-state area - Arizona, California and Nevada - Southwest Gas has implemented a program designed to address the entire spectrum of its Diverse Supplier activities. A primary consideration for the program is to ensure that it benefits bona fide companies owned and controlled by minority, women, and disabled veterans. A second major consideration is the need to ensure that Southwest Gas is able to meet the federal, state, and other regulatory agencies' requirements to utilize the products and services of Diverse Suppliers. Therefore, Southwest Gas has identified as acceptable Diverse Supplier certification agencies whose certification standards are consistent with the U.S. Department of Transportation, California Public Utilities Commission's Supplier Clearinghouse, and the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. and other agencies.

All companies claiming Diverse Supplier status are requested to submit to Southwest Gas, a copy of their current "Certification Approval" letter or certificate issued by one or more of the agencies acceptable to Southwest Gas. (Note: See listing of certification agencies below and on the following pages, however, copies of all certifications held by a company should be submitted.) A copy of the approval letter or certificate should be attached to Southwest Gas’ Supplier Profile form and returned to the Supplier Diversity Department.

In order to ensure that the Supplier Diversity Program benefits from eligible companies, Southwest Gas will recognize those companies certified by the following agencies:
